Campaign Story
About the project
Project PAHAL works in Gurgaon, a city which has seen rapid urbanization since the nineties. With increase in urbanization Gurgaon witnessed an inflow of huge numbers of migrants. This impacted the adjacent villages as well. Though Gurgaon as a district has excelled in the field of education, it still has a gap of more than 13% when comparing female to male literacy. This shows that the society is still lagging behind to address the issues of gender discrimination. The quality of education in the government school is also a major concern.
Making a difference
CRY America’s Project PAHAL is working towards ensuring children from age 6 to 18 years are attending school and have access to quality education. The focus is on the evolution of children’s collectives and youth collectives as child protection leaders through theater in education and sports activities. The key activities taking place under the project are capacity building of the child protection committee members on roles and responsibility, conducting awareness campaign on child labor and child marriage and mothly meeting of children and adolescent collectives.
